These paintings are large oil canvases, painted from sketches made in front of the subject and finished from memory.
The light and colors of Scotland’s wilderness in winter continues to
inspire me. The fleeting moments of sun and how the elements affect the
shapes and tones of the land. Low winter sun lights the land with copper and gold, the sea appears turquoise, all further
intensified by a backdrop.
of dark brooding skies.
I intend to express vulnerability in the face of the vastness of nature, to feel small yot be a part
of it.
